About

Are you running a National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science (CPAS) related event(s) as part of your coursework, research, engagement or teaching? CPAS staff and students can access a modest pool of funds for support. We are grateful to the ANU philanthropic gift focussed on critical thinking for making this possible! Please note, you must be a CPAS staff member or current ANU student currently enrolled in a CPAS course to apply.

How to Apply

To apply, please refer to the template and send a one-page application including:

    • A brief summary of your event/project, its target audience, methods, etc. and how it fits into CPAS (e.g. as a coursework requirement).
    • Itemised budget
    • Statement of how your event/project meets the following criteria:
      1. Integration of critical thinking – how is critical thinking incorporated into your event and who is doing that critical thinking?
      2. Impact (demonstrated or predicted) – what public good or other impact will your event/project facilitate? Who will benefit, how and with what kinds of outcomes? What literature/evidence supports this impact?
      3. Reach and audience – how many people will you reach? Who is your audience and why are they important?

Applications will be assessed by a panel including the CPAS Director, Centre Manager and Postgraduate Coursework Convenor.

Applications due March 31, July 31, September 30 (out of round applications may be considered, please contact graham.walker@anu.edu.au).

Eligibility

As previously stated, you must be a CPAS staff member or current ANU student currently enrolled in a CPAS course to apply.

If successful, you must produce a brief report including key details (event details, attendees, how it went, impacts, etc.) in the format of a social media post suitable for Facebook and Instagram, including text and catchy images/video.
