About

This project investigates, characterises and analyses the contexts in which the Jurassic Park film franchise is used by authors of popular science books. Undeterred by the movie's advanced age and occasional example of out-dated science, writers, from children's authors to paleontologists, continue to reference Jurassic Park. While the types and content of these books may differ there are emerging trends in how these references are being utilised. Developing a greater understanding of how fiction is incorporated and used to promote scientific awareness will aid science communicators in synthesising more effective ways with which to communicate information about dinosaurs and the ancient world.
