This project analysed the rhetorical strategies used by the website NaturalNews.

NaturalNews is an alternative therapy website with views that oppose conventional cancer treatment and research methods. This project sought to understand this community’s beliefs to determine if and how cancer research will be influenced by them.

The study concluded that NaturalNews had great potential to influence a reader’s perception of the cancer establishment with its diverse and nuanced views. The site displays a capacity to understand and present scientific arguments that means it cannot be dismissed as another irrational anti-science community.
