About
Each year the Australian Centre for the Public Awareness of Science (CPAS) may offer a prize known as the Kenneth Kenji Takenaka Grant in Science Communication.
The objective of the grant is to recognise and support high performing students commencing the Master of Science Communication program at the CPAS
Funding for this Award has been provided by Kellie Ann Aki Takenaka to honour her father, an attorney and advocate in Hawaii who has always demonstrated support for local communities and educational opportunity.
Eligibility
The Award is available each year to a commencing ANU student who:
- is a domestic or international student; and
- has received an offer of admission to the Master of Science Communication within the CPAS; and
- has received a minimum ANU Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.0 or equivalent in their basis admission.
Only applicants who meet all the eligibility criteria will be considered. Selection is made on the basis of academic merit and the quality of the application.
CPAS reserves the right to make no award if it considers there is no applicant of sufficient merit.
Recipient Obligations
The award may be declined by the recipient once they have been notified as the recipient. This must be provided in writing to The Australian Centre for the Public Awareness of Science no later than 30 days from notification. If the award is accepted by the recipient, they agree to the publication of their name. The recipient may be asked to:
- Write a letter of thanks to the donor;
- Participate in marketing activities.
