As the information age continues to surge ahead, studying novel technologies, innovation, and society open up a whole world of different career options.

How can we ensure technologies are developed fairly, justly, and sustainably? Our alumni provide studies and expertise to ensure innovation and communities connect well -- whether it is studying perceptions and providing commentary on AI and the use of technologies, providing connections between tech and government with local communities and expertise, or combining engineering and science backgrounds with sci comm to ensure technology is developed responsibly and its potential and impacts communicated properly.

"My background originally is in astrophysics. Afterwards, I found an opportunity to do a PhD in STS and science communication, studying the social perception of science on Twitter.

I thought these fields were in parallel -- and I had had experience in public engagement activities, radio shows, these kind of things. All my experiences, together, just led to science communication as a field."
