The Science Circus Pacific team has a goal to build capacity in STEM education through strong and lasting relationships. We have been working with our friends from Imagine Samoa since 2019 to help realise a dream of establishing the first ever Samoan Science Centre.

Earlier this month the team took two huge steps towards that dream.

The first was celebrating science in a huge event at St Peter Chanel Primary school alongside our colleagues from Ministry of Education Sports and Culture Samoa as part of the school’s first ever Science Week. Check out a video of the amazing day of science conducted by the Imagine Samoa team: https://www.facebook.com/ANUScienceCircus/videos/307987210356108/

The second was being successful in a grant application through the Direct Aid Program from the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). This funding will allow the Imagine Samoa team to trial exhibits, science shows and activities that will eventually feature in their science centre!

As part of our work with Imagine Samoa, we have created a series of science activities that are linked to the Samoan curriculum. We are happy to announce that we have now made this document FREE TO DOWNLOAD. Whether you are a teacher, a parent leading the home-schooling or just someone that wants to do some fun science at home, there is something in there for you!

You can download a free copy of the booklet here: https://openresearch-repository.anu.edu.au/hand…/1885/206807

Are you an educator in the pacific that wants to build capacity in STEM education? Get in touch with us, we are always looking for new partners to work with.

As always, a massive fa'afetai to DFAT for their continued support of SCP.
