Dr Elizabeth Tynan who graduated in 2011 from ANU with a PhD in science communication has turned her PhD thesis into a book entitled Atomic Thunder The Maralinga Story.

The book has been described by Phillip Adams as "Compulsive reading? Make that compulsory. This is a brilliant book."

The book discusses the devastating consequences of Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies' decision in the 1950s to allow British atomic testing in Australia. The atomic weapons test series wreaked havoc on Indigenous communities and turned the land into a radioactive wasteland.  

The book was launched at CPAS Wednesday 28th of September 2016.
