Description
CPAS will be hosting a conversation with James Wilsdon (Professor of Research Policy, University College London) at the usual seminar slot this Thursday. James has a distinguished history in the science policy sector, having served in the Royal Society, prior to taking up a professorship at the University of Sussex and subsequently the University of Sheffield. His work at the think-tank, Demos, was instrumental in fostering a program of public dialogue around science and technology matters in the UK in the 2000s; he was one of the early bridge-builders between academic research in the social studies of science and the worlds of science and science policy.
Currently based in UCL's Science, Engineering, Technology and Public Policy department (STEaPP), James is a co-founder of the relatively new Research on Research Institute (RoRI). Picking up on the research methods conversation following Joan's lecture this morning, I'm sure we'll be quizzing him about if/how RoRI might link to the 'science of science communication'.
Look forward to seeing many of you in the Green Couch Room.
