Ask a science communicator: How do you make yourself heard?

Professor Sujatha Raman didn’t expect to find herself in this field of science communication, she wanted to be a physics field scientist. 

Most people don't often know that there is a field of science communication, or a top-tiered research program at the ANU. When chatting with people, Professor Raman would say, "I'm interested in the relationship between science and society and then give examples, like asking big questions: Should we have genetically modified agriculture? What should we do about climate change? What kinds of evidence do we need to make a decision or make a recommendation about vaccines?

In this video Professor Raman discusses what it’s like to work in science policy and how her career led her here.

“It’s a very exciting world to be thinking about working in,” says Professor Raman.
