The next Conversations across the Creek, a joint effort under the auspices of the Head of the Humanities Research Centre (HRC) and the Director of the Australian National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science (CPAS), will be on Friday 20 May at the HRC.

Conversations across the Creek is a series of forums that provide continuing dialogue among scientists, social scientists and humanities scholars, with the aim of fostering research and teaching collaborations across ANU.

The inaugural Conversations across the Creek meeting was on 17 March 2016, and featured speeches from ANU Vice Chancellor, Professor Brian Schmidt, and CPAS Director, Professor Joan Leach.

CPAS staff member, Dr Sean Perera, championed the name Conversations across the Creek, as an effort to metaphorically bridge between the academic areas of science and the humanities and social sciences which are separated physically by Sullivan’s Creek at ANU.

The Conversations are also intended to inform broader scholarly discourses at CPAS, in particular the Multicultural Discussion Group, which has been meeting fortnightly for the last six years.
