Be a part of the Australian National University Master of Science Communication 2024 Cohort!

The ANU National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science’s unique masters program allows you to design your own science communication program, tailoring your degree towards a range of science communication careers. Students can choose from two in-depth capstone experiences – Research Projects and/or Fieldwork Placements to suit pathways into academia, research, industry and policy contexts, or practical environmental and conservation communication, science centres, outreach and more. You can further specialise or diversify with science communication courses spanning media, popular culture, online, policy, engagement, culture, internships, and student-designed projects – alongside courses from across ANU – with many available online/remotely if preferred. Learning from leading science communication researchers and practitioners, the program is ideal for aspiring science communicators, practitioners wanting to ground practice in evidence or achieve a postgraduate qualification, researchers wanting to deepen communication skills and knowledge, or scientists and teachers seeking a new career trajectory. You’ll also join a global group of over 500 alumni giving you networks to maximise your impact.

Scholarships Available!

  • Domestic students may be awarded a Commonwealth Supported Place reducing fees by approximately 75%. If you have a high GPA, chances of success are good.
  • International students may be eligible for Australia Award Scholarships covering fees, living and moving expenses, and more. ANU staff can advise on your application.

Credit for prior degrees! Get your masters in one year.

  • If your honours or other postgraduate qualifications are from the past seven years, you may be eligible for credit subject to approval (e.g. a cognate honours reduces the two-year masters to one year).
