Join Professor Joan Leach for a floor talk in Haegue Yang’s solo exhibition, Changing From From to From.

Professor Leach will discuss Yang’s work as a way of seeing science in various social encounters. She will outline how Yang references scientific theories of movement and change, inspired by the artist’s interest in chaos theory and the ‘butterfly effect’. The talk will explore how art and science can activate ideas, open new questions for enquiry, and find common themes for public discussion.

Professor Joan Leach is the Director of The Australian National Centre for Public Awareness of Science at the Australian National University. As an academic, Professor Leach’s research is centred on how knowledge travels across science and society (social epistemology), science communication, and public engagement with science.

Duration: 45 minutes including Q&A.

Following the talk, audiences are encouraged to stay and view a special activation of Haegue Yang's trio of sculptures, Sonic Intermediates – Three Differential Equations (2020) from 12–12.20pm.
