CPAS Lunch & Learn: Cara Doherty
A Lunch and Learn, also known as a learn-at-lunch, is an informal event for CPAS and the broader science communication community held during our lunch hour. This month is Cara Doherty, Senior Research Contracts Officer at ANU Research Services Division and PhD Candidate at University of Canberra.
What’s Mine Really Mine?: Re-Imagining Resource Ownership and Control through Post-Apocalyptic Fiction
About the speaker:
Cara Doherty has an LLB in Law with European Legal Studies from King's College London, with sub-specialisations in Swiss and Russian Law. After a short but unsatisfying stint as a corporate lawyer, she returned home to complete an LLM in Law, Governance and Development at the ANU and work on a science-fiction manuscript. Through her passion for genre, particularly post-apocalyptic fiction, Carta noticed threads of commonalities with the legal theories she had encountered. Currently she is in her final year as a PhD Candidate exploring the intersection of legal philosophy and post-apocalyptic fiction, focusing on ownership, control of land and distribution of resources.
