This project investigated the ideologies and portrayals of science in the computer game Civilization 5, and shows that these views lead to the game’s anthropocentric, patriarchal and exploitative relationship towards the natural environment.

Penny is interested in the notion of risk both at the individual level and at a governmental level. Her research is focused on the ways in which governmental agencies act to reduce risk.
