About

Illustrations, diagrams and other graphics are generally considered to be useful aids for explaining scientific concepts, and are widely used in a variety of situations. Although there has been some focus on the relationship between diagram design and understanding, there has been little research into how emotional aspects of the viewing experience influences viewers’ interpretations.

This study investigates the role of visual context in diagrams and how this relates to motivation and attitudes.
