ALS Ice Bucket Challenge: Using Social Media to Promote and Educate on Health Issues

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge proved that viral marketing is an effective tool in raising awareness and funds for certain charities, raising over $100 million for the ALS Association and its associated charities world wide. However, did the videos make people learn about ALS? This research will also examine the implications of the Ice Bucket Challenge on the future of using viral marketing online to communicate science and medicine.
