Martina Donkers: Out of the Lab and Into the Living Room - a Case Study in Science on Stage

Date & time

5–6.30pm 8 September 2011

CPAS Green Couch room

Representations of science on the stage have as yet had very little scholarly attention, yet they may reveal a great deal about the ways the public engages with and develops opinions about science. This audience response study, possibly the first of its kind (in that it deals with a play in the sense of traditional theatre), examines the ways that audience members responded to the scientific themes and ideas in a production of Caryl Churchill's play A Number.

The findings presented will be preliminary, the study as yet unfinished. Thoughts, ideas and feedback on the ideas presented will be very much appreciated.
