What do the uptake of hybrid rice, twitter activity, foxes and rabbits, and patterns of smoking have in common with each other?

The answer is that the maths that describes these, and many similar processes, is essentially the same.

In this talk my aim is to show how mathematical models can be created for such situations, and to share some of the results that emerge from the models.  The mathematics linking the models to their outcomes is carefully avoided!
