CPAS staff and students have rocked National Science Week this year in all kinds of engaging and inspiring ways.
PhD student Vanessa de Kauwe was selected to be profiled and photographed in her workspace for the ANU 'Our scientists in their "natural habitat"' gallery. The gallery celebrates the workspaces and career experiences of 12 scientists from across the joint Colleges of Science.
Rod and Dr Merryn McKinnon also each MC'ed panels on 'Science in the Movies' featuring a bunch of scientists - Merryn's on Interstellar and Rod's on The Martian.
Dr Graham Walker, one of Canberra's most well known science performers, brought his usual spectacle to the Science in Action festival and the ANUSA Science Carnival.
Graham also contributed activities to and compiled a National Science Week Activity Book. 3000 copies were distributed at numerous events, giving families an avenue to continue the science fun at home after the week.
Sixteen students in the Master of Science Communication Outreach program, as part of the Shell Questacon Science Circus, have been touring around the Northern Territory, including Alice Springs, Tennant Creek and remote communities around Katherine.
And Professor Joan Leach, in her capacity as President of the Australian Science Communicators, engaged with professional science communicators across Australia as they've planned and exceeded expectations in events around the country.
